"Greening" Canadian Brownfields 2008
The organizers of HOT PROPERTIES @ Canadian Brownfields 2008 are making every effort to reduce the carbon footprint of this event. Below are some of our “green” initiatives, please feel free to contact us if you have any more suggestions.
The majority of our promotional material is in electronic format and we will be minimizing the amount of delegate handouts at the event, making materials available to delegates electronically and on our website. The remaining handouts will be printed on recycled paper.
We will be offsetting the electricity produced throughout the event through Bullfrog Power.
The Congress Centre has recently undertaken a number of environmental initiatives as part of their expansion. Read about it here (pdf).
We are working closely with the Toronto Congress Centre to reduce the amount of waste produced from food and beverage. All food will be served on china and glassware; water will be available only in pitchers; beverage cans and bottles will be recycled and all excess food will be composted or donated to local food banks.
We are also working with the Toronto Congress Catering Department to offer fresh, local and sustainable food to our delegates.
We encourage delegates to offset their travel for this event. You can purchase offset credits through online sites such as Terrapass.
