Ontario
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing's goal is an Ontario made up of safe and strong urban and rural communities with dynamic local economies, abundant greenspace and a quality of life that is second to none.

The ministry promotes accountable local governments that are able to plan, manage and invest for the future.

The ministry works to strengthen Ontario communities by promoting a housing market that serves the full range of housing needs, protects tenants, and encourages private sector building. The ministry also provides opportunities for supportive programs for low-income tenants and housing for special-needs tenants, and supports the creation of affordable housing.

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure works with many partners inside and outside government to build the schools, public transit, hospitals and energy generation facilities that help power our economy—and to ensure that Ontario remains one of the best places in the world in which to live, work, invest and raise a family.

A top priority is ensuring that Ontario’s electricity needs are met in a sustainable manner. Developing renewable energy sources and fostering a conservation-oriented culture are cornerstones of Ontario’s balanced plan to provide clean, reliable and affordable energy.

Equally important is ensuring the modernization of public infrastructure, as part of an integrated vision that encourages the kind of growth and environmental stewardship that enhances our quality of life and contributes to our economic success.

KilmerBEFund_Logo_Vertical.jpg

The Kilmer Brownfield Equity Fund is the first private equity fund in Canada dedicated exclusively to the redevelopment of brownfields.

The $100 million fund is set up as a limited partnership with both institutional and private investors.

The Fund acquires and redevelops qualifying brownfield sites. The redevelopment process consists of the remediation of the site and often the rezoning to a higher-

and-better end land use. When the redevelopment is completed, the restored site is sold to an end-user, who will complete the development process through the vertical build-out of the site. The Fund targets investments in the $5 million to $15 million range.

The Fund is managed by a team of experienced brownfield specialists and includes leaders in the Canadian brownfield industry. The collaboration of the different specialty areas represented within the Fund's management team—which include environmental risk management, real estate planning and development and finance—is a critical component of the Fund's ability to manage risk and unlock value in its brownfield redevelopment projects.

The Fund is sponsored by Kilmer Van Nostrand Co. Limited (KVN), a private investment holding company in Toronto. KVN brings to the Fund three generations of construction industry experience and 25 years of private equity investing experience, including private equity fund management.
